Chairman of the “NIHR” and “Human Rights Advisor” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are discussing Strengthening Joint Cooperation and Coordination

Eng. Ali Ahmed Al-Derazi, Chairman of the National institution for Human Rights (NIHR), has held a meeting with Mr. Hassan Musa Shafi’i, Minister Plenipotentiary and Human Rights Adviser to the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva, at the NIHR headquarters in Seef district, in the presence of Chancellor Yasser Ghanim Shaheen, NIHR Secretary-General.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed joint coordination between the NIHR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by discussing activating and enhancing cooperation between the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Geneva and the NIHR in the field of human rights, especially during the upcoming participation of the NIHR in the 4^th session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which will be held in Human Rights Council in Geneva next November.

Al-Derazi stated the importance of the NIHR participation, and the implementation of its jurisdiction contained in its Establishment Law, which aims to promote and protect human rights, noting that the NIHR has submitted its parallel report to the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of the 4^th session.
